LIFE APPLICATION BIBLE SEMINAR

HONDURAS REPORT 2002

In 2002 we conducted a seminar in one of the large prisons in Honduras. In the seminar we had 250 pastors of prisoners who were prisoners themselves. They were one of the most enthusiastic groups we have ever had in a 3-day seminar. They told us they would use their Life Application Bibles to proclaim the Gospel among the inmates. During the seminar, in addition to the prisoners, there were 16 armed guards. Their duty was to watch the prisoners. We included them in the seminar and they participated in the exercises. At the conclusion of the seminar the Captain of the Guards came to the microphone and said, "At the beginning of this seminar we were prisoners and guards. Now after these 3 days we are brothers in Lord!"

While conducting a seminar in Venezuela in 2006, we showed some of the pictures of the prison seminar in Honduras on our overhead projector. One of the Venezuelan pastors came forward. He said, " Brothers, I know all about that prison. Do you know what happened in there? That is the prison where all the prisoners became Christians! Many of the pastors here have heard about it." (Until that time we had never heard what happened after the seminar.)

On the island of Roatan off the coast of Honduras, we conducted our seminar in a church pastored by Brother Marco Galindo. Several months after the seminar I had a phone conversation with him. He said, "Brother Jim, since you brought this Life Application Bible and the Seminar to my church you have caused me great problems!" I said, "What do you mean?" He said, "The problem I have in my church now is that all those who received these bibles and the training now want to preach!! They are so confident about their foundation in God's Word."
